Free, confidential LGBTQ+ support: crisis lines, youth communities, and affirming resources for anyone questioning their sexuality or gender. Whatever you’re feeling, you don’t have to work through it alone — the places below are used to exactly these kinds of questions.

If you need to talk to someone now

Questioning your sexuality can bring up a lot — excitement, relief, fear, loneliness. Whatever you’re feeling, you don’t have to sort it out alone. The services below are free, confidential, and used to exactly these kinds of questions, whether you’re in a hard moment or just want to think out loud.

If you’re in immediate danger or thinking about harming yourself, please contact your local emergency number right away.

LGBTQ+ support lines

  • The Trevor Project — crisis support for LGBTQ+ young people, 24/7. Call 1-866-488-7386, text START to 678-678, or chat online.
  • TrevorSpace — a moderated, international peer community for LGBTQ+ people ages 13–24. Visit trevorspace.org.
  • Trans Lifeline — trans-led peer support that won’t contact law enforcement without your consent. Call 1-877-565-8860 (US).
  • PFLAG — support for LGBTQ+ people and their families and friends, with local chapters. Visit pflag.org.
  • LGBT National Help Center — free, confidential peer support and local resources. Visit lgbthotline.org.

General crisis support

  • 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (US) — call or text 988, or chat at 988lifeline.org, 24/7.
  • Crisis Text Line — text HOME to 741741 (US), free and 24/7 (also available in Canada, the UK, and Ireland).
